Lyrics |
We're sitting here
At opposite ends of the room
And it seems quite clear
That the end for us is coming too soon
Neither of us has much to say
And it seems that words just get in the way
And whatever we say, we just disagree
We just disagree
I retrace the steps
Through all of our stupid arguments
And still, to me
There's nothing that makes any sense
I'd give you everything I had
If things would not turn out so bad
But whatever we say, we just disagree
We just disagree
I remember when you loved me so
I felt so proud and felt so strong
I thought that I had found someone
Someone to whom I could belong
But then the love disappeared
In a cloud of misunderstanding
Angry words and bitterness reigned
Now all I see is my world collapsing around me
I can't believe we've sunk so low
Nowhere to turn, nowhere to go
Mistrust and spite, it's all that remains
The scars and the hurt and the emotional pain
I remember when you loved me so
I felt so proud and felt so strong
I thought that I had found someone
Someone to whom I could belong
But then the love disappeared
In a cloud of misunderstanding
Angry words and bitterness reigned
Now all I see is my world collapsing around me
And I don't know what to do
'Cos all I know is I still love you.....

A Bit of Trivia |
This song has it's origins in about 1995, but has remained dormant basically since then. After so many years not having worked on or recorded anything substantial, this is the result of a bit of manic inspiration after finding it easier to sing than anticipated.
The song is probably way too overproduced, with far too many effects used on the various instruments, but it is what it is.
The song tells the story of the end of yet another relationship, although the inspiration for the lyrics is a combination of two events that occurred many moons ago.
