Lyrics
Have you ever come home to an empty house
Tiptoed around, quiet as a mouse
Have you ever seen something that you thought was a ghost
More than an image of a lingering host

Did you ever say something that you knew was a lie
Crossed all your fingers and hoped to die
Have you ever drowned your sorrows in a bottle of wine
Woke the next morning and not seen the signs

When all of your days just run into one
And all your emotions are constantly numb
Lying there waiting for morning to come
Wishing that life was a little more fun

When your world comes to a grinding halt
And you feel like you've lost but it's not your fault
Do you take everything with a grain of salt
Sit back and wait for the time you've bought

Have you ever thought that your number was up
Gone to take a drink and found an empty cup
Are you safe in the knowledge it can't happen again
But when you turned your back someone called your name

Have you ever had a dream that you wished would come true
Opened your eyes to a different view
Did you ever think you knew what life was about
Climbed the highest peak, face the world and shout

When all of your days just run into one
And all your emotions are constantly numb
Lying there waiting for the morning to come
Wishing that life was a little more fun

Chasing shadows more than dreams
Nothing is ever what it seems
Hiding in the shadows of an empty space
Feeling like life is going to waste
Hiding in the shadows
Hiding in the shadows.....

A Bit of Trivia
Shadows was our attempt at a grand "Rock Opera" style song. Whether it works in that guise is up to the listener.

Having said that, the mix was not really that successful, and the dynamics of the song get lost in the middle of a wall of noise.

The original "rough" mix that was done before the final mastering session was actually a lot better, but, unfortunately, the tape containing the sample got lost and so was not able to be reproduced.

There are so many errors in the song, such as the sound of guitars being dropped that got left in the final mix accidentally, etc., that it's hard to listen to it without hearing them, which detracts from the song in a major way.

A remix of this song would be a very good idea at some point.
