Lyrics |
So find me a promise that I can't keep, and
I'll give you a reason then we'll get some sleep
Find me a truth that you haven’t been told and
I'll give you all the honesty you bought and sold
Now show me a secret that you've never been shown, and
I'll prove to you, baby, there was no need to know
Show me something solid with no clue to unlock, and
I'll give you all the answers that you never got
Stolen moments and intimate dreams
Remember all the arguments and tragic scenes
Stolen moments on a passionate theme
When you gonna realize it's not what it seems
Stolen moments with no hint of a joke
I should have thought of what to say before you spoke
Stolen moments, not a thought or a care
I hope this stolen moment will find you there
Breathe some fire into this life of mine
Tease the flame 'til the darkness shines
An urgency crashes all around our ears
It's love that’s talking but we can't hear
Stolen moments and intimate dreams
Remember all the arguments and tragic scenes
Stolen moments on a passionate theme
When you gonna realize it's not what it seems
Stolen moments with no hint of a joke
I should have thought of what to say before you spoke
Stolen moments, not a thought or a care
I hope this stolen moment will find you there
Is there nothing I can tell you that will change your mind
So should I even try to explain this time?
Sometimes I wonder what I really hope to achieve
'Cos people only hear what they want to believe

A Bit of Trivia |
This song was inspired mainly through the result of some of the arguments that seemed to continually arise between DK and his then girlfriend.
It seems a common pattern in most relationships that once the trust has been breached, there is no way of ever returning across that bridge, no matter whether the truth is told or not.
The lyrics reflect that frustration.
The final mix you hear was done on the computer by DK while he was living in the UK in 2000, using several sound sources and no real idea of what he was doing with regard to mixing and mastering.
The final result is not as good as it could be, and the extended ending could be trimmed a little.
Unfortunately, the sax sound comes out a little tinny.
The song will be remixed at some point in time.
