Lyrics |
I sat down to write me
A Country song
But I ain't no Country singer
And the words seemed wrong
I just needed inspiration
Get into the right mood
So I switched my mind to Country
And I knew I couldn't lose
Switched on to Country
My mind is heading west
Switch me on to Country
It's better than the rest
It don't matter, true
If it's sad and blue
The music's still the best
Now I'm switched on to Country
And my mind is heading west
Before I really knew
I had my Country song
I'm still no Country singer
But the words are never wrong
Well I got my inspiration
Turned on the radio
Now my mind is tuned to Country
And I know I just can't lose
Switched on to Country
My mind is heading west
Switch me on to Country
It's better than the rest
It don't matter, true
If it's sad and blue
The music's still the best
Now I'm switched on to Country
And my mind is heading west

A Bit of Trivia |
One morning, DK awoke from a dream with a bunch of words running around in his head, that seemed to lend themselves to a country style song. That wasn't this song, however!
After writing down the words he could remember from the dream, DK promptly went back to sleep, only to awaken several hours later with the words for what eventually became this song running around in his head.
This was probably the quickest song ever written, as DK wrote down the words and worked out the basic melody, then got in his car and drove to DE's house and within about 30 minutes a song was born, with very few changes to the original concept.
The lyrics themselves are quite tongue in cheek, and can are open to interpretation, insult or celebration.
The choice is yours! :-)
