Lyrics
You can cut the air with a knife
And the atmosphere is as cold as ice
You can feel the love has left their life
It's left their life

Her attitude has turned so cold
There's a problem here but he can't be told
The fights they have are oh so old
They're oh so old

Ain't it sad to see love die?
Yeah, ain't it sad when they won't try?
And ain't it sad to watch them cry?
Yeah, ain't it sad?

When their passion turns to violence
And their life is just pretence
Yeah, you know it don't make much sense
It don't make much sense

They always said they'd part as friends
When it reached a point no-one could mend
But that's a desperate hope when their love ends
When their love ends

Ain't it sad to see love die?
Yeah, ain't it sad when they won't try?
And ain't it sad to watch them cry?
Yeah, ain't it sad?

A Bit of Trivia
This song describes a particular event that occurred when DK went to visit an old friend in Melbourne.

The friend and his girlfriend of the time were having a bit of a rough patch in their relationship and had retired to their room one night. DK was sleeping on the couch in the lounge room and had only just gone to bed when there was a loud thump from the room next door.

In the dark, DK grabbed a notepad and a pen and, in the dark, blindly wrote the words of what eventually became the basis of the song.
