FOR A STREETCHILD |
A child is like an angel Come down to bewitch us mortals With forgotten wings that fell Behind as they left Heaven's portals
A child's tears are the shards of an icy rain Tearing across lost Youth with unforgiving ferocity Railing against the careless gods that reigned Who had neglected this jewel's rarity
A child's anger is the sword of vengeance Slicing through the wealth of a deaf Paradise When happiness had become more of a hindrance And the Seraphims took no note of innocent cries
A child's despair is that gust of cold wind That blows angrily at the flickering candle And Hope will be that flame unrekindled Once quenched, for the last time, of its fiery cradle
A child is like an angel Come down to beseech us mortals With forgotten wings that fell Behind as they left Heaven's portals...
