A PERFECT MOMENT |
There are perfect moments That lay hidden and sacred And a heart in grief will still spend Remembering the times it bled
My perfect moment is that night When the moon smiled mischievously The evening mist sweet and light And the falling stars sprinkled happily
Softly, softly, I feel you near With words that hinted of laughter and reverie Arms reaching with a warmth so dear Painting the moment, making a memory
And as you held me close You talked not of love but life's inconsistency Tweaked (of all things) my little nose And kissed me with quiet simplicity
In the end, it had been nothing more than A moment dipped in ephemeral perfection Fate dealt a different hand And took away my heart and my passion
But at times, when the stars laughed at night I recall with fondness and regret Of a time when love beckoned bright Of you, in a moment, long ago, and perfect
